Just a few days left for Ramadhan, and we are already on the 22nd of Ramadhan, 2019 mashallah. Al Hamdulilah, even though these past few days have been really hot, fasting has not been so bad. Some family members have been tired though and I did get a little dehydrated ( not sure if I still am ) but I have tried to drink more after breaking fast. The past few days have been busy ones...hot days too I may add, couple of acs went down, electricity went off again ( but from some issue outside) only for a short time though fortunately, and yes, again our water drum was empty.. but had an emergency bucket of water ...just in case.. on stand by.. the water came back few hours later. These hot days are probably a warning .. that as soon as Ramadhan is over.. the heat is coming back with a fierce... June and especially July are the hottest of the year. Yesterday, I made some meat pasties, and my little granddaughter, decided to join and climb atop of table and sat there... I was just waiting for the moment when she would decide to get naughty mashallah .. I knew it was coming.... and thought I would be fast enough- as we all do.. but she quickly grabbed one of my prepared dough rounds... and squashed it in her hand. Of course, she was off the table after that and off to her room lol. She just couldn't resist! Yesterday, I made pasties, lugainmat, macaroni dish and chicken soup. I made macaroni to send to our neighbours along with the lugaimat. The Suhoor this morning was as usual, cereals, fresh milk, and some rice etc. left from fatoor for those who wanted it. When I woke up, I heard loud shouting going on and kids screaming .. I was like.. what??.. it is 3 am in morning....but one of family members had their family over and their kids, and when they come they don't leave until suhoor time. Today I had an appointment, and really, really wished that I could just sleep but pushed myself to get up and go.. and, then when I got back- had household routine to get through. When I did finally get time to rest, the sleep was gone :o I managed yesterday to watch Duroob ( Nations and Cultures) with Ali Saloom ( of Ask Ali) , It is a very interesting program to watch.. and you learn a lot about other cultures... something, amazing, something unusual and something strange lol all in one. Even though it is in Arabic, you will find it interesting just watching... it is on Emirates TV.. Sometimes , I forget which tv channel it is on and start pressing the remote buttons until I find it.. but now I remember! Sorry, not as many posts this year, in the first few days, we had our wifi down, and then just too many other things to be done with acs etc around the house. Hmm...I Just heard something slam very strongly against the window.. has happened several times now during the past year..but today was especially very loud,.. I am assuming pigeons or birds somehow didn't see the window or underestimated their speed and slammed into them!! I noticed our neighbours, hanging vests or plastic bags on their windows, to scare off the birds etc. I can understand why they do that though as today when we were window cleaning, it was a nasty job to do :((. OkaY, that's all for now... have to go cook!
Well ladies, Ramadhan is almost at our doors and as always we welcome this very significant time with God's Great Grace, Inshallah, with open arms and a open heart. I have been preparing for a few weeks now, as I make my own sambosas and freeze them every year, they are all done.. been adding new soft furnishings like table clothes etc, simple lanterns and crescent lamps, and the like.. this make the kids and family look forward to the event with a warm heart. I always buy my stock a little before time and some like these days as the Ramadhan stock of foods come out in the stores.. but by this time decor and non food items become expensive. But food is pretty much friendly priced indeed thanks to all involved in making sure this happens. I have cleaned all my carpets, did lot of 'spring cleaning' trimmed all the plants etc. adding new stuff here and there, today just finished cleaning and rearranging freezers. So I can see where everything is to grab and start cooking. In between all that helping out with babies when I can, made a doll house out of bug box for granddaughter... lol she dragged it off to her room! Amazing what a simple box can do compare to buying the expensive stuff which gets left! I have a project corner in my room ( really needs a small office) , and all my grandkids will come here straight away to find stuff - they will say to their parents " Ummi has everything in her room-' it is great for their parents as they don't fancy going out at 11 pm at night when their kid suddenly wakes up and remembers they need such and such for a project next day--when will the younger parents understand that the older ones have been there before lol Hubby will be sending stuff from the farm later so lots of work of distributing and putting into fridge etc. later ( weekly thing). I have the mijlises to do now, last on the list and then maybe done * i think * Well, ladies, will let you know when ramadhan starts, also will add my Journals in the Ramadhan Chronicles . Newcomers: Watch the Ramadhan Shopping going on, its a festival in itself.. all over the UAE you will see people rushing and buying for Ramadhan...it is all part of a wonderful experience. Please Share your experiences with us , your observations, etc. about the shopping atmosphere these days.. I am sure we would all love to hear your stories too.
